you may have noticed that I've been formatting our image blog posts a little differently- what do you think? do you prefer the NEW way (with a collage of images) or the old style (with bigger pictures but longer post overall)? I've been working on getting everything posted so we'll be all caught up and current, but I wanted to know your opinion first, oh internet. :-)
Let me know in the comments section below; and I'll let you decide! If you're hiding in blog lurk-dom, thanks for being here... and make your voice heard! Then, more posts to come! And, since every post is prettier with a picture, here's one of our friends Ryan & Meg's baby, Amelia, and I snuggling after her 3-month photoshoot. SO sweet, I just LOVE her!!

hi internet friends, I am in serious need of blogging our most recent events and fun stuff, but we're more concerned with getting everything edited and done than keeping up on here... so we'll get to blogging soon enough, but if you're patiently waiting for your event to be posted here, just be a little more patient. :-) You'll see your images in your private galleries before you'll see them here, for sure.
In the meantime, spend a minute or two supporting on of my favorite musical artists- Casey Wasner! If you've frequented our main website at www.lorimomberg.com you have heard Casey's magical voice and talent come through your speakers before. Casey is in the running for an awesome $20k for his talent on famecast.com. He was the August winner for the Pop contest stage, and has made it to the fall finals. Here's the skinny in Casey's words:
"the contest lasts 3 weeks. 3 rounds. 1 round a week. We only go as far as each round lets us. the most votes win. Nov 22 will reveal the winner of $20,000! You can vote once a day, per email account. I'm trying to keep this message as short as possible. Tell yer pals. :) Im one of 18 artists competing out of 25,000 who submitted."
Here's what you can do to show Casey your support- it's easy (thanks Lahna for the step-by-step)!
1. Register at www.famecast.com - it's quick and easy, I promise!
2. Click on this link to get to his stuff directly: http://www.famecast.com/finals/index.php?cid=26&aid=8270
3. Bookmark that link so you can vote for Casey EVERYDAY!!!!
YAY Casey, we're all amazed at your talent- I know this is just the beginning for you!

3 years... really? was it really 3 years ago on a sunny October day that we promised our love for each other in front of our families and friends? wow, how time flies! We celebrated our anniversary this past weekend in Duluth after shooting Grant & Jessie's wedding (more on that in a few days). Although it was just a quick getaway, it was so very necessary- we were able to just BE- nothing we had to do but hang out with each other. It feels like it had been forever since we've just spent time together not talking about or doing work, and it was a very welcome change of pace. Don't get me wrong, we LOVE working together; it is just easy to forget sometimes that the person you're working with is the person you love, not the person you're employed with. It's been a busy 3 years, and the time feels like it has passed us by so quickly. We have to remember to stop and enjoy each other through this journey more often- maybe that'll be one goal for this 4th year of marriage that we're headed into.
Anyway, we wanted to share some of the fun pictures we took along the way this weekend. We love autumn, and even though it's a reminder of the cold, blustery days ahead, it's so worth it!
these ships were SO massive- this one was *only* 636 feet, and it was enormous. the one we saw at night was over 1000 feet long, and it felt like it went on forever, it was incredible!
a self-portrait of sorts, in front of the Split Rock lighthouse.
ps- I'm sorry I have to put our logo watermarked across these images, but we've seen a lot of problems with people stealing images online lately, and we're just too proud of these to let someone else call them their own...
this moment was nothing short of amazing... we were touring around the lighthouse, and decided to climb down the 174 steps to get to the shore line. we were only there for about 8 minutes because we had to head back to Duluth, but just as we were leaving, this rainbow appeared over the trees and grew across the entire sky, framing the lighthouse just perfectly. Then, a second rainbow appeared over the first, and we just couldn't believe it. I swear, you could sit on that rock for a month worth of days and never see something so spectacular. Of course, we only had 4 frames with which to capture it, as our card was full, but Chris got this shot while holding the camera down close to the water (without any view through the viewfinder). then, it wasn't so amazing when we had to climb back UP the 174 steps, in the pouring rain (rainbows usually mean rain, right)?
oh, and here's a video clip of us at the MN Landscape Arboretum on our actual anniversary evening (Wednesday), when Chris decided to tackle me out of the blue...

thank you to all of you who sent me birthday wishes last week! chris threw a party in our backyard to celebrate on Saturday night, and although it rained partway through, it was so much fun to see old friends and have a chance to catch up. the summer totally got away from us this year, and although we love Fall in Minnesota, we're sad to see the warm weather fade away. here's a shot of Lucy getting ready for party time... :-)

Chris and I are enjoying a cup of Peppermint Mocha coffee as we watch the snow fall outside. It reminds us that Christmas is right around the corner... are you ready? To celebrate the excitement and the love we feel this season, we're offering a special print sale for our amazing clients and friends. If you order your prints by the 10th, you'll receive them in plenty of time to be wrapped and under the tree by Christmas morning.
If you're interested in Christmas cards, we'll be sending out another special email announcing those soon... so watch for that in your inbox!
happy snowy weekend!

to all of our friends, family, and wonderful clients, we wish you a happy (and SAFE) fourth of july holiday! we spent this past weekend with our friends at our lake cabin here in Minnesota, and had a little firework fun of our own! chris bravely put on this great fireworks show for all of us to enjoy, but it was a bit scary (and really loud) because they were shooting off from only about 10 feet in front of us!

Trash a Vera Wang dress? I think SO!
Check out this fun article from the NY Times describing the new-ish phenomenon of trashing your wedding dress after the big day NY Times article - trashing a Vera Wang dress. For those of you brides that are totally tired of wedding planning, millions of decisions, stress, stress and more stress, this is the most liberating way to put an end to those feelings! We're hoping to find some of our brides (and grooms too!) that would like to do this this year after their weddings (of course)... so let us know if you're interested. It'll be amazingly fun, you'll get some awesome images, and feel totally free from the craziness that weddings bring.
